		<description>Here here (or is that hear hear?). Most literary events are damp squibs, and not really for the audience to enjoy. Author interviews are always excruciating, or is that just me? The interviewer nearly always uses it as an excuse to show off, and questions are invariably longer than actual answers... with the interviewer answering their own question before the writer can get a word in.

In defence of the journalist interviewing BEE at the latitude festival.. she did her best with a man who seems to be a bit of a pain in the ass, frankly. He tried to dumbfound her at every turn, and was generally just rude both to her and the listening audience. 

I don&#039;t know about you but I prefer my writers to stay mysterious. I don&#039;t care if they wrote their magnum opus wearing a smoking jacket, or not, or what they ate for tea. I like to read their books godammnit, and that is *all*. Most writers are actually really boring, or disappointing in real life. Let the work do the talking, I say, and less of the chat.</description>
